“Bringing Ranch-Quality Beef to Your Table”

Founded in 1947 as a meat wholesaler, Sugimoto-Honten now manages every step from cattle breeding and raising to production and sales. Concerns about the declining supply of Wagyu due to an aging population of cattle farmers and increased imports drove us to expand our business. Guided by our mission of “Delivering Safe, Trusted, and High-Quality Food to Your Table,” we adapt to changing conditions to provide safe and delicious beef products to our customers.

In 2007, we launched our premium Wagyu brand, “Kurohana Wagyu,” which has since become a leading brand in Japanese black cattle. Today, we operate an integrated system for approximately 30,000 cattle across 100 farms. In 2020, we obtained HACCP certification for food production, as well as JGAP and Farm HACCP standards for our farms. We also earned the international “FSSC22000” certification and are committed to expanding our markets both in Japan and internationally.

Additionally, in 2020, we built a new, world-class beef processing plant at our headquarters. To improve supply stability and operational efficiency, we equipped the Yatake No. 2 Farm with state-of-the-art automated feeding systems. We are also expanding our product offerings with items like Kurohana Wagyu Beef Curry.

Sugimoto-Honten is certified as a “Bright Company” by Kumamoto Prefecture, and we are committed to supporting employees’ career growth, promoting women’s participation with a goal of 30% female management, and providing flexible working arrangements. As an SDGs-registered company in Kumamoto, we aim to reduce CO2 emissions and food waste, extend product shelf life, and uphold FSSC22000 standards to ensure a long-term, incident-free food safety record.

We are dedicated to “Safety and Quality” in all aspects of our food production and, as a united team, remain committed to delivering products that offer peace of mind and satisfaction to our customers.
